Dark months mixtape

I call them the dark months for obvious reason: The sunlit days are shorter, and the nights are longer...giving way to the darker side of the story telling tradition. It's not neccesarily about the evil side of us, but rather the side that is more connected to the spirit of our ancestors. At this time in the farming cycle most plants shrink up their outer resources to preserve energy. Some plants such as root vegetables direct their energy(sunlight) that they have been collecting(green plants) directly underground(potatos, yams, turnips etc.)where the energy will stay still for the time being(starch=sugar=energy). Others blast it out in one final attempt to spread their seeds(pumpkins). It's a glorious time for those tending to their fields over the summer months(ask me about my ankle tattoo).

Samhain/Halloween/Dios de Muertes.

Halloween, that day that New Yorkers embrace so freely their true freaky selves, falls about the time that the autumn harvest has been sown, the seeds collected, the fruits preserved. We have spent so much energy absorbing all this energy(infinite hard drive space) and it has to go Somewhere. CAn I say it? Dare I Say Introspection?

After the harvest is rest, and good deep sleep deserves a nice dream. But, wait our dreams are not always nice...

Here are some links to videos showing some artists who have managed to bring their dream lives to our lives (our reality?)Plesae pardon the 90's references, but we have since entered the time of perpetual fantasy:

Selling art is easy

At age 30, Kristin left her small and idealic island home and moved to New York City to pursue a passion for visual art.
You see, she had sold a lot of work at the coffee shop she was working at. And her best friend had moved to Brooklyn. Then, she won a scholarship through the community college she was graduating from. She got into a top art school. Then, she found out that it was the same school that her aunt had studied illustration. She chose, and actually stuck with a fine arts/studio major(she would realize later that "concrete" and "marketable" skills would not actually be provided). Will she make it in New York, or will her desperation for security push her to abandon her artistic career?

This is all about her first year out of art school. Stay tuned.

Applied to 30 jobs
